Step 3: Upload Your Documents

​

To check if you can get Legal Aid, the Mediator must see proof of your financial situation. This is to help complete the financial assessment required by the Legal Aid Agency (LAA) during the MIAM appointment you are requesting.

Important Guidance

​

To support all persons efficiently, the Mediator requires a complete set of documents. This ensures your request moves quickly from submission to your MIAM appointment.

• If your documents are almost complete (just one item missing or incorrect), the Mediator may contact you to provide guidance on the next step.

• If multiple documents are missing, the Mediator cannot proceed with the financial assessment. The request will be securely deleted from the system to protect your privacy. You are welcome to re-submit your request at any time once you have gathered everything needed.​

• The Mediator will look at your proof after you send it. This service is free of charge. If it looks like you cannot get Legal Aid, the Mediator may contact you to talk about paying privately. The final assessment and confirmation of eligibility happen during the MIAM.

• Legal Aid does not pay for missed meetings. If you miss a MIAM or cancel with less than 48 hours’ notice, the practice reserves the right not to offer another appointment.

• The Mediator reserves the right to decline any request for mediation due to availability or other reasons, without providing a reason.
